3 Secret Learning Techniques on how to TRIPLE your child’s learning speed

Let’s admit it, we humans have a speed obsession. Speed has become an impulsive indicator of success and we expect (almost everything) to be done quickly. We celebrate big ideas— especially when they’re conceived fast. We are eager to have speedy Wi-Fi, quick travelling time and for some reason or another, we can’t turn down fast food. Do we need to say any more?

Education-wise, we also hope that our child will gain the ability to acquire knowledge at lightning speed. Many children will also expect studying and revisions to be done in the shortest amount of time. But is it possible? Fret not, parents. We are here to share with you 3 secret techniques on how your child can study FAST & smart, but not harder. Do it right and you can easily TRIPLE your child’s learning speed.

#1: Study smarter, not longer

It’s essential to understand the most effective learning techniques when it comes to your child’s study routine. Research shows that the optimal study time for students is between 30 to 50 minutes. Anything less than 30 minutes often isn’t enough to grasp important concepts, while studying for over 50 minutes can lead to information overload for their developing brains.

To make the most of their study sessions, encourage your child to take a 5 to 10-minute break once they reach the 50-minute mark. This brief pause helps refresh their mind and enhances retention.

Additionally, consider incorporating brief, frequent revision sessions instead of longer, infrequent ones. Regular review reinforces what they’ve learned, making it easier for them to recall information during exams. By adopting these strategies, you can help your child build a solid academic foundation while making their study time more productive and enjoyable.

#2: Use keywords to make good notes

Visual diagrams, flow-charts, and mind-maps are the perfect tools to INCREASE critical thinking skills. It compels your child to identify keywords, process knowledge, comprehend it, connect it with existing mental frameworks, and review it multiple times. But unfortunately, most of our children do not know how to take effective notes. As parents and educators, we need to teach our children this crucial life skill.

#3: Connect what you learn with something you know

When your child leans a new concept, try asking them to link what they’ve just learnt to something that they already understand. By infusing the alien concept with the familiar, not only will it encourage them to understand the new concept, but they will also be able to remember it better.
