Knowing the Concept Is Half the Battle. Answering It Right Is How You Score.
Here’s what most parents don’t realise about Primary Math:
Your child might understand fractions, ratios, and percentages perfectly — and still walk away with an AL3 or AL4. Why? Because PSLE markers award marks for structured, step-by-step working. A correct answer with messy or missing steps loses marks.
This isn’t just a problem for students who are struggling. Even strong students leave marks on the table because they’ve never been taught how to present their thinking the way examiners expect.
At BlueTree, we fix this — for every student, at every level.
Our Teaching Philosophy: The 3E Framework (Explore, Explain & Extend)
Every BlueTree lesson is built on a single principle: children learn better when they understand the ‘why’ — not just the ‘what’.
That’s why every class at BlueTree Math follows our 3E Framework, with curriculum designed in-house and embedded in every lesson from P1 to P6.
- 🔍 EXPLORE: Hands-on experiments make Math concepts tangible — so students discover the 'why' before the 'how'
- 💬 Explain: Teachers deep dives into key Math concepts and theory, with the help of easy-to-understand in-house lesson notes
- 🚀 EXTEND: Students apply knowledge confidently to exam questions — including higher-order thinking questions to push top scorers further
S.O.L.VE. Technique: Our Signature Math Answering Techniques to tackle most Problem Sums
Help your child to stay organised and show the workings that earns full mark using our structured S.O.L.VE. approach.
BlueTree’s Founders spent over a decade as official PSLE markers. They know exactly how marks are awarded — and exactly why students lose them.
From that experience, they developed proprietary exam answering techniques that every BlueTree student learns. Together, these give your child a clear, repeatable system for tackling any Math problem sum — from straightforward Paper 1 questions to complex multi-step Paper 2 problems.
- S: Search for Clues
Identify the key information given in the question - O: Obtain the Evidence
Draw models, tables, or diagrams to visualise the problem - L: Locate the Key
Pinpoint what the question is actually asking fo - VE: Solve the Mystery
Apply the right method, showing all working and answers clearly
This technique has helped over 12,000 students score distinctions — and once your child learns it, answering Math Problem Sums becomes a system, not a struggle.

Our Answering Techniques Come From the People Who Marked PSLE
BlueTree’s founders spent over a decade as official PSLE markers. They read thousands of student papers and watched the same patterns repeat: students who knew the content but lost marks because their working wasn’t structured the way examiners expect.
• Minimum experience requirements
• Regular in-house training on the latest syllabus changes (including PSLE 2025 onwards)
• Personally mentored by our Founder & Academic Director, who is a Former Chief PSLE Examiner and ex-GEP/MOE teacher, Teacher Faith — so every teacher delivers to the same high standard
• Post-lesson updates so you always know what was covered
When your child learns from in-house curriculum materials written by Former PSLE Chief Examiner who has marked PSLE papers, they don't guess what gets marks — they teach your child to think and answer the way PSLE rewards.

The Primary Maths Syllabus will be completed before P6 Mid-Year Examinations. On top of the teaching of new topics for P6, our PSLE math tuition in Singapore will constantly review and revise the topics taught from P3 to P5 to solidify understanding and concepts.
From June, our dedicated team at BlueTree will focus on preparing our P6 students for the upcoming Prelim and PSLE examinations. Students will be exposed to and practice past PSLE and Top Schools’ exam questions which are commonly tested in PSLE to deepen their understanding the Maths Concepts required in Maths problem sums questions whilst applying our Signature S.O.L.V.E. Technique for effective answers.
S.O.L.V.E. Technique
❗Secured distinctions for > 10,000 students
❗8 in 10 BlueTree students scored PSLE distinctions in Math (AL1 to AL3)
At our PSLE math tuition centre, we train students with our signature 4-step answering technique,
S.O.L.V.E.—Search for clues, Obtain the evidence, Locate the key, solVE the mystery—to solve questions with a deeper understanding of core topics in math to ensure each answer is to the examination setters’ expectations.
These teaching methods arose from our founders’ deep experience in PSLE as they were both PSLE markers for more than a decade. They realised that many primary school students struggled with problem sums because they did not have a structured approach to answering questions. The S.O.L.V.E. technique has helped thousands of students because they are simple to use and effective in getting the questions solved!
